1. Christain County Farmers Memorial
Inscription.
This memorial is in honor of the pioneer farm families who settled in Christian County and have passed their farms down through the generations to cultivate and to care for this rich Christian County, farm land for the future.

When the first settlers came to this area, they recognized the black fertile soil but were not sure it could be farmed, as it was tall prairie grass and very wet. But those who were determined to drain the land with ditches and field tile found that indeed this was to be a great corn farming area. With the invention of the moleboard plow, the tall prairie grass was turned under revealing rich black soil the wealth in the land that is the foundation for growing corn and soybeans in Christian County, Illinois.

Erected 2014.
