Plant 3
— Vermeer —
In 2008, the Plant 3 high bay was constructed to accommodate products like reclaimers and Terrain Leveler® surface excavation machines (SEM's) that support our customers connecting their communities and help manage natural resources. It was out of this high bay that the Vermeer team built the largest piece of construction equipment ever built in Iowa - the T1655III Terrain Leveler SEM. First developed for a customer in Italy who needed a way to transform rocky ground into a vineyard, Terrain Leveler SEMs now help with site-clearing and surface mining resources around the world that are used in our buildings, cars, electronics and medicines.
Today, the team in Plant 3 builds more big iron than ever, adding several product lines into Plant 3 following the July 2018 tornado, serving as another testament to the agility and dedication of Vermeer team members to meet customer demand.
