Ray served two tours with the 6937th at Camp Badaber Peshawar Air Station, Pakistan, a former CIA-USAF Security Service listening post as a Russian Language & Voice Intercept Processing Specialist after completing language training at Indiana University & specialist training while attached to the 64th Student Squadron at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX.

Enlisted 29 June 1960 at Syracuse, NY - Honorably Discharged 28 June 1960 at Charleston AFB
