1. Gleamns Marker
Inscription. The youngest of eight children and born to parents who were both ex-slaves, Dr. Benjamin Mays went on to become a distinguished minister, educator, scholar, social activist, advisor to three presidents, mentor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and long-serving president of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. He published eight books and nearly 2000 articles including: The Negro's Church; The Negro's God, as reflected in his literature; Seeking to be Christian in Race Relations; A Gospel for the Social Awakening; Disturbed About Man; Born to Rebel; and Lord, the People Have Driven Me On.
