Inscription. More than 200 firms make mobile homes, campers, and other recreational vehicle-related products in Elkhart County. A center for musical instrument manufacturing, the county is known as the "band instrument capital of the world." In sharp contrast to the industrial and commercial center, a large Amish community lives and farms in the surrounding countryside.
