On April 19, 1947, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Delta Xi Omega Chapter was chartered in Salisbury, North Carolina by Clarissa K. Dillard, South Atlantic Regional Director. The charter members of the graduate chapter were members of Alpha Xi Chapter of Livingstone College who were professors, staff and associates.

2. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Marker
K. Dillard, was chartered in Salisbury, NC as the 112th graduate chapter of the sorority on April 19, 1947. In 1953, after the restructuring of the regions, the chapter became a member of the Mid-Atlantic Region.
