The Nemesis Shrines
Inscription.

The Nemesis Shrines
In 1952 a mural painting, depicting the goddess Nemesis, was discovered on one of the walls of the underground gallery. To her left is the genius of the amphitheatre and to her right a hunter and a bear.
This 3rd century painting would have been part of a small shrine where hunters and gladiators prayed to the divinities before going out into the arena. There was a second shrine to the same goddess carved in the rock of the arena.
