Andean bears usually travel and live alone, but sometimes come together in groups around a food source.

When are they social?
Male-female pairs travel together for about a week during the breeding season. After cubs are born, they stay with their mom for up to 8 months.

We started studying and protecting Andean bears in 1977. Today, we protect them through our programs in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
