Mount Pleasant in Charleston County, South Carolina — The American South (South Atlantic)
USS Yorktown (CV-10) Aircraft Carrier
Not only were most of the guns removed with the coming of missiles, but the open bow was enclosed as a “hurricane” bow to protect the forecastle (fo’c’sle) during heavy seas.
The Yorktown still retains her 1960's silhouette.
