1. Kensington and Tacony Railroad Marker
Inscription.
This trail follows part of the old Kensington and Tacony rail line. Incorporated in 1886, the K&T and other nearby lines served industries along the riverfront for more than a century. After this line was abandoned, local groups began to rally support for converting the rail bed into a greenway trail.

[Captions:]
This area began to grow after Philadelphia businessman William H. Gratzmer secured a charter to bring the first railroad here in 1846.

In 2005, the City of Philadelphia purchased the abandoned rail line and trail construction began with the assistance of the Delaware River City Corporation.
