1. Bald Eagle Marker
Inscription. Bald eagles were once common. But as the land was settled, they disappeared—victims of hunting, DDT pollution and habitat loss. Now that eagles are protected and DDT has been banned, eagles are making a comeback. In 2008, a pair built a nest near here for the first time in recorded history.
