1. Stephan C. Leonoudakis Golden Gate Ferry Terminal Marker
Inscription. This Golden Gate Ferry Terminal is dedicated to Stephan C. Leonoudakis in recognition of his pivotal role in initiating the legislation that returned passenger ferry service to San Francisco Bay while a member of the board of directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, highway and transportation district from 1962 to 2001. His vision and leadership were instrumental in creating the Golden Gate Ferry System operating between Marin County and San Francisco. Valued highly by the daily commuter, the Golden Gate Ferry system provided critical transportation link for the Bay Area following the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, and served as a model for development of other regional passenger ferry systems. Stephan Leonoudakis is recognized for his valuable contributions to the district and the communities it serves.

Erected 2001 by Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District.
