Major Maxwell Adam Mahama. . , Major Maxwell Adam Mahama (GH/3454) was born on 1st November 1985 in Bole. After his Senior Secondary Education, he enlisted into the Ghana Military Academy on 6th October 2005 as part of Regular Career Course 47. Maxwell was commissioned into the Ghana Army on 7th September 2007 as a Second Lieutenant, and was posted to the 5 Infantry Battalion as a Platoon Commander. During his short but illustrious military career, he rose through the ranks to become a Captain and served in various capacities both at home and abroad. Unfortunately, Maxwell met his untimely death at the hands of an irate mob at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region whilst on official duty as a Detachment Commander on Monday 29th May 2017. He was promoted posthumously to the rank of Major on 5th June 2017., This Monument is in Honour of the Late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama (GH/3454) whose gruesome murder by an irate mob at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region on Monday 29th May 2017 attracted sympathy and condemnation from both the Ghanaian populace and the international community. The Late Officer's exhibition of rare restraint even in the face of imminent death caused an awakening of the national consciousness of Ghanaians to put an end to mob action. The Monument depicts the Late Officer as a hero and conveys the message to STOP Mob Justice., "All Ghanaians, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, creed or status must join the fight to stop mob justice.", This 8-Foot Monument depicts the Late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama (GH/3454) who died through mob attack at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region. His outstretched Left Arm is calling for curtailment of mob action with his Right Hand securing his weapon. The 7-Foot (High) by 13-Foot (Wide) Triangular Pedestal Wall has a Relief Sculpture embedded on all the Three Faces. The Late Officer is seen facing the Assailants with one hand close to his pistol and other hand stopping the crowd throwing missiles at him. It shows radiation of heat indicating restraint from the use of force shown by lines from Major Mahama and demonstration of aggression shown by lines from the crowd. The Scale of Justice is depicted at the point at which the two set of lines converge calling for recourse to the Law Courts as the best option rather than mob action.
