1. Courthouse Cast Iron Drinking Fountain Marker
Inscription. This cast iron drinking fountain was located on the east side of the Bedford Limestone Courthouse approximately thirty feet from the intersection of Main and Broadway streets. Historians estimate it was made in the 1800's, about the time the Bedford Limestone Courthouse was built in 1894. On the fountain there was a trough from which horses could drink. Generations of residents and visitors remember cooling off with a splash of Monticello water from the fountain.
