Reader Building. . Dr. William Reader established a drug store here in 1865. Next, in 1874, Riely's Drug Store moved from Elm Street to this location. Their slogan was "Riely Has It," and the slogan rang true with the store's variety of items including cosmetics, textbooks, school supplies, cigars, paints, cutlery and even musical instruments. Customers often discussed politics around the stove located in the center of the store. After the owners closed the store in 1947, Vallas and Eleanor Albin opened their jewelry store here the next year. A second entrance was later added on Chestnut Street. Mr. Albin's son-in-law, Jim LaDuke, became manager in 1990, and the business is still family-owned., (caption) Beaver Street showing the Riely Drug Store with the Conrad Music store on the far left and the Jordan Building on the right.
