1. Morning Dawn Lodge No. 7 Free and Accepted Masons Marker

Inscription. "Morning Dawn" was the first lodge to be chartered, on January 5, 1810, by the Grand Lodge of Ohio. Andrew Lewis was the first Worshipful Master. Meetings were originally held in J. B. Ferrard's house on the north corner of Locust and Third Streets. In 1816 the lodge moved to the Gallia Academy Building on the west corner of State and Second streets.

Erected 1978 by The 19 Lodges of the 12th Masonic District, Meigs, Jackson, Lawrence and Gallia Counties and The Ohio Historical Society. (Marker Number 2-27.)

More about this marker. Marker was possibly removed while building renovations were being conducted in 2005-2006, to include a new street facade marquee for The Ariel-Ann Carson Dater Performing Arts Centre.

Current location is believed to be the corner of Third and Court Streets in Gallipolis.

March 2024: The marker has been replaced and is no longer missing.

Regarding Morning Dawn Lodge No. 7 Free and Accepted Masons. This building is now the home of the Ariel-Ann Carson Dater Performing Arts Centre, home to The Ohio Valley Symphony.
