1. Seashore State Park Marker

Inscription. This park was developed by the National Park Service, Interior Department, through the Civilian Conservation Corps, in conjunction with the Virginia Conservation Commission. It covers 3400 acres and was opened, June 15, 1936. Two miles west is Lynhaven Bay, in or near which there were naval actions in 1672 and 1700, and naval movements in 1781 and 1813

Regarding Seashore State Park. This park was renamed First Landing State Park in 1997 due to the belief that the Virginia Company first landed on the shores of the park before they went on to settle Jamestown.

Much of the 19 miles of trails will take you through the Cypress Swamps where you will see Spanish Moss and a lot of wildlife.
