George V was proclaimed King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, after his father, King Edward VII, died in the late hours of 6 May 1910. The coronation took place at Westminster Abbey in London on 22 June 1911. Canada sent about 700 civilian dignitaries and military personnel to be part of the celebrations in London. In 1935, George V celebrated his Silver Jubilee and received widespread public acclaim.
