W.L. "Jack" Howard Theatre
Originally opened in 1966, this theatre is named in honor of W. L. "Jack" Howard, Monroe's 27th Mayor. He served as mayor of Monroe, Louisiana from 1956-1972 and from 1976-1978. During his tenure as Mayor, "Jack" Howard was a visionary who helped create the Monroe Civic Center Complex, Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo, the Monroe City Hall Complex and many other public improvements. His creations have been "pace setters" for the culture in our entire community!
