1. Alpha Delta Zeta Marker

Inscription. On October 14, 1938, elght African American women chartered the state's first graduate chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. here, at 723 Rose Street. At the time, this area, located south of what is now Jackson State University, was home to many Black professionals. Charter members of the Alpha Delta Zeta Chapter. all of whom were professional educators, were Mollye Young Sims, Mable Roseman Sims, Frances Alexander, Julia Stutts Polk, Hellen Allen Cooper, Estelle G. Young, Jennie O. Johnson and Birdie Graves Winters.
