sectionhead>More about this monument. Sculpture is a full-length figure of a uniformed Confederate soldier standing on a square pedestal on a mortared stone base. The figure holds his rifle in front of him with both hands around the barrel and the butt on the ground.
Erected by the Choctaw Ruffin Dragoon Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for approximately $1,200. The statue was made in Italy by an unknown sculptor and dedicated one year after it was erected. The statue was cleaned in 1992 with a "Chlorox solution" under the auspices of the UDC. The City of Butler built the base.
