Inscription. Built 1806-7. Home of Thomas Worthington, United States Senator and Governor of Ohio.

Presented to the State of Ohio by Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Fetterolf as a memorial to her parents. Restored and administered by The Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society.

The house, gardens and museum are an Ohio Historic Site, administered by the Adena Mansion & Gardens Society on behalf of the Ohio History Connection, successor to The Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society. It is open April through October 9am to 5 pm Wednesday through Sunday; on Sunday it opens at noon. There is a fee for admission. Ohio History Connection members are admitted free.
 
Regarding Adena. The mansion was designed by Benjamin Latrobe, who also designed the United States Capitol.

The house is located on a hilltop west of downtown Chillicothe. The property surrounding the mansion included the location of the first mound found to belong to the Adena culture and thus the Adena mansion is the namesake for the Adena people. ... The stone mansion has historically accurate interiors, including furnishings.

The main entrance faces north and is sheltered from the wind by the two wings. The kitchen wing is on the right and Thomas Worthington’s office is on the left.
