Inscription. Road and bridge construction during the Roosevelt administration of the 1930's made automobile travel easier and more common. In Florida, tourists stayed in "motor courts" like this one. C. M. Kelly owned several properties and businesses including this motor court called "Kelly's Cottages" from 1946 to 1962. Families stayed here, booked trips on the nearby charter boats, shopped, and ate in the seafood restaurants in St. Andrews. The name of Kelly's Cottages was changed to Azalea Court in the 1970's. Mr. Kelly also owned Kelly's Supermarket on Beck Avenue. It was open 24 hours a day and the popular sign said "We doze but never close."
