Dedicated in the honor of a gentleman, who was a true friend to all children of Columbia County; a youth league organizer, coach, sportsman, and community leader. Mr. Morris had vision for the establishment of this park and through his leadership and determination, here we stand. Mr. Morris was inducted into the Columbia County Recreation and Leisure Services Department Hall of Fame on January 4, 2004; a true friend to Columbia County for life.

resident of Columbia county, was a timber and land buyer for Timber South Corp., where he as vice-president. He was a member of Kiokee Baptist Church, where he was a member of the adult two Sunday school class. He was past president of Appling Jaycees and past region director of the Georgia Jaycees. He served as a coach and president of the Appling, Grovetown and Harlem Little League. He was Scoutmaster for Appling Troop 57 and was a former board member of Columbia County Recreation Department. He served on the Columbia County Forestry Board and was president of Whiteoak and Appling Hills Hunting Club.
