Inscription.
Site of the first Meeting House erected 1784 by inhabitants of East Parish, now Grace Congregational UCC in Rutland and formally organized in 1788. Property deeded to church by Major William Barr.

Site of the first burying ground deeded to East Parish by Major Barr in 1800. Rev. Samuel Williams, first settled pastor of the church and Honorable Samuel Williams, founder of the Rutland Herald and first deacon of the church are interred here.
