Populaire schrijfster van boeken voor opgroeiende tienermeisjes met titels als Ina en hare moeder, Mollie's problemen en Brenda weet uitkomst. In haar boeken verwerkte ze ervaringen uit haar eigen leven, waaronder het wel en wee van een eenoudergezin. Pétillon, de achternaam van haar eerste echtgenoot, was van 1933 tot 1936 hoofdredacteur van het maandblad Meisjesleven. Dit tijdschrift bevatte verhalen (van onder andere Cissy van Marxveldt), gedichten, wijze spreuken van Cats, Bilderdijk en Vondel en artikelen over muziek, boeken en handwerken. Na de oorlog, waarin ze niet publiceerde, vond ze opnieuw inspiratie en schreef ze, naar later bleek haar laatste boek, Als Bladeren op den Wind.
Popular author of books for growing teenage girls with titles such as Ina en hare moeder (“Ina and her Mother”), Mollie's problemen (“Mollie's Problems”) and Brenda weet uitkomst (“Brenda Knows the Solution”). In her books she incorporated experiences from her own life, including the fortunes of a single-parent family. Pétillon, the surname of her first husband, was editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Meisjesleven (“Girls' Life”) from 1933 to 1936. This magazine contained stories (by Cissy van Marxveldt, among others), poems, wise sayings by Cats, Bilderdijk and Vondel, and articles about music, books and crafts. After the war, during which she did not publish, she found inspiration again and wrote what later turned out to be her last book, Als Bladeren op den Wind (“Like Leaves in the Wind”).
