1. Welcome Center Marker
Inscription. Built in 1960 as the Ursuline Teaching Institute, the Welcome Center was the first college building. Its flat roof was replaced in the 1980s and the entire building was expanded and renovated in 2016-17. It is a multi-purpose facility currently serving as office space for Chatfield staff and the student lounge and gathering space. The bas-relief sculpture on the front of the building is the work of Agatha Fitzgerald, OSU, and depicts Julia Chatfield and the Cross in the Wilderness. It won the Ohio Memory project award from the Ohio Historical Society 2014.
