Geertruida van Lier
Utrecht, 22 april 1921 - Sachsenhausen, 27 oktober 1943

Zij bezweek begin 1945 in vrouwenkamp Ravensbrόck.

(English translation:)
Law student Truus van Lier was a member of the resistance group CS-6. She smuggled weapons, distributed illegal publications, accompanied Jewish people into hiding places, infiltrated the Nationaal Socialistische Beweging (=Dutch Nazi Party) and searched for valuable information at Soesterberg air base. On September 3, 1943, she shot dead Utrecht NSB chief commissioner Gerard Kerlen. Van Lier went into hiding in Haarlem, but was arrested a week and a half later after betrayal and subsequently executed. There is a historical marker and two stumbling stones (= a type of memorial) in front of her parental home on Prins Hendriklaan in Utrecht, one for Truus van Lier and one for her mother Derkje van Lier-Wensink, who was arrested after a visit to her imprisoned daughter and then died in early 1945 in the Ravensbrόck women's concentration camp. Truus' Jewish father Wim and sister Wilhelmina (Miek), who was also in the resistance, survived the war.
