Excerpt (in translation): In 1684, the pharmacist Georg Jost Winkelmann received the privilege from Landgrave Friedrich II to sell herbs, powders, ointments and other medicines to the then approximately 2,000 Homburgers. At that time, his pharmacy was located somewhere in the newly built "New Town", and it was not until 1854 that the Engel Pharmacy moved to the house at Schulberg 7 - 9.(Submitted on May 25, 2024.)
The interior, which made the Engel Pharmacy a true gem, dates from 1901. It was designed by none other than Louis Jacobi, who was a friend of the then pharmacist Theophil Höser.
The listed building is currently being renovated, and the Engel Pharmacy no longer exists.
