Julie Wagner founded the Orioles' Community Relations department in 1984 and spent 20 years creating and managing the club's involvement in educational and charitable programs and initiatives throughout the region, expanding the club's goal of "enriching the lives of fans in the community." Among her enduring programs are the Food Drive, Summer Reading Program and local implementation of Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI). Beginning as a game-day assistant in the team's Public Relations department in 1982, she spent 26 years with the Orioles and helped execute many club festivities, including Camden Yards' opening week, the 1993 All-Star Game and Cal Ripken's Streak Week.
