Inscription. The Wyandotte is an American breed, developed in the 1870s and named for the indigenous Wyandot people of North America. The Silver-Laced type was included in the American Standard of Perfection in 1883. This large, but round-bodied bird is calm, friendly and very hardy. However, they don't do well in hot climates, don't mix well with some other breeds, and are not broody; meaning they do not make good mothers. They mature fairly quickly and are raised for their meat and their eggs. Wyandottes can be silver and golden laced, black, blue buff (tan) or partridge (brown).

Erected 2022.
