1. James H. Armstrong Store Marker

Inscription. During the Civil War this building was the mercantile store of James H. Armstrong, a noted Confederate sympathizer. The building was set on fire during the Battle of Augusta but was not seriously damaged. The bodies of the Bracken County militia killed during the battle were brought here afterwards for identification.
