Dr. Frank Carter Larimore

During the Civil War, Mr. Larimore served in Ohio infantry brigades. War injuries rendered Mr. Larimore unable to work as a. farmer after the war. He decided to enter medical school in New York, and graduated as Dr. Larimore in 1869. He eventually rose to the presidency of The Ohio State Medical Society.
Dr. Larimore stayed on the cutting edge of medical science and was the first doctor in Knox County to use a hypodermic needle and to practice anesthesia using cocaine.
Until a real hospital was built in Mount Vernon, Dr. Larimore used a room in his own home as a hospital.
