Inscription. In the 1900 census the assessor counted 136 horses. By 1916, there were 94 motorized vehicles in the village of Westerville. Car dealerships, repair shops and gas stations sprang up to keep pace with the demand for automobile related services. They replaced the blacksmith shops and livery stables that serviced the horse trade.

This building was one of the early gas stations in the uptown and was built in the 1930s. The two garage bays were added later. The original occupant was King's Sunoco and was replaced by Joe's Sunoco in 1948. Joe Grandominico's well-known slogan was “Joe's Time Is Yours” and appeared on the clock that hung at the top of the building
