More about this marker. The statue and marker were unveiled on "Paul Konerko Day" in September of 2014, during Konerko's final homestand as a major-leaguer. Sculptor Lou Cella also created the Frank Thomas statue that sits a few steps away.
 
Regarding Paul Konerko. Paul Konerko was a key member of the 2005 White Sox, who held first place from start to finish during the regular season and won the franchise's first World Series in 88 years. In the American League Championship Series, Konerko hit two home runs and earned the MVP award as the White Sox clinched their first AL championship since 1959. In the World Series, the White Sox swept the Houston Astros in four games to win their first world championship since 1917. Konerko finished the Sox's playoff
