1. Camp David Accords Marker
On September 17, 1978, after days of intense negotiations at Camp David, Maryland, the leaders of Israel and Egypt agreed to a series of Frameworks that lead to the 1979 Treaty of Peace. In the Treaty, Israel gave back the Sinai Peninsula in exchange for free passage of the Suez Canal and official diplomatic relations with Egypt. The Treaty also provided for military forces from other nations to help keep the peace between Egypt and Israel in the Sinai. This force became known as the Multinational Force and Observers.
