The mission of the MFO is to supervise the implementation of the security provisions of the Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace and employ best efforts to prevent any violation of its terms.
Under the Treaty, the Sinai is divided into four zones permitting different levels of Egyptian or Israeli forces in each. The MFO enforces these zones, operating primarily from South Camp or Forward Operating Base - North, both in Zone C.
