Peninsula Township in Old Mission Point in Grand Traverse County, Michigan — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Restoration of the West-Side Entrance
| | Mission Point Lighthouse | |
Inscription.
It is unknown whether a side entry door was part of the original Mission Point Lighthouse structure. Photographic evidence shows the west wall going through three structural changes.
In a 1905 photo, a storm shelter entry is visible. A 1960 postcard shows the storm entry has been removed. The entrance has been replaced with a six-paned window in this 2012 photo.
