Fairfield Cemetery. . , Fairfield was established in the spring of 1855 by five Carson brothers, John, William H., David, George, and Washington along with William Bearshall, John Clegg, and others. The settlement was named in honor of Amos Fielding, the founder. The first syllable, "fair" was chosen because of the beautiful location of the settlement, and the other syllable, "field," featured part of his surname. On June 26, 1858, the population boomed when Johnston's Army was here to suppress the rumored Mormon rebellion. With no rebellion, the troops were recalled in the year 1861 to fight for the Union in the Civil War. , This monument is the Eagle Scout project of Cameron Carson, the great-great-grandson of William H. Carson."The purpose of this project is to recognize our loved ones, our forefathers, and those brave Pioneers buried here that may or may not have readable headstones or even headstones at all.
