Mutterhaus der Schwestern Franziskanerinnen von der Heiligen Familie
Allgemein „Klösterchen“ genannt. Erbaut 1752 für den Tuchfabrikanten Vercken nach Plänen des Aachener Architekten J.J. Couven. Bemerkenswert u.a. der Rokoko-Giebel mit dem Wappenschild des Erbauers, die Balkontüre sowie die schmiedeeisernen Gitter. Im Innenhof Lourdes-Grotte von 1896; rechts davon, Eingang zur Hauskapelle (1856/57) und Grablege (seit 1964) der Ordensgründerin und ersten Generaloberin Mutter Elisabeth von Jesus (geborene Josephine Koch, 1815-1899).

Construite en 1752 pour le drapier Vercken d'après les plans de l'architecte aixois J.J. Couven. Depuis 1857 couvent de la Congrégation des Scurs Franciscaines de la Sainte Famille, fondée à Eupen par Mère Elisabeth de Jésus (née Josephine Koch, 1815-1899).

Motherhouse of the Franciscan sisters of the Holy Family
Commonly known as the “little convent”. Built in 1752 for the cloth manufacturer Vercken according to plans by the Aachen architect J.J. Couven. Noteworthy features include the Rococo gable with the coat of arms of the builder, the balcony door and the wrought iron grilles. In the inner courtyard is the Lourdes Grotto from 1896; to the right of it, the entrance to the house chapel (1856/57) and burial place (since 1964) of the order’s founder and first superior general, Mother Elisabeth of Jesus (née Josephine Koch, 1815-1899).

Excerpt: Generally known today as the 'Klösterchen' ('little convent'), this building was erected in 1752 on a commission by the cloth manufacturer Leonhard Vercken to plans by the Aachen architect Johann Joseph Couven. In 1857, it became a convent of the order of the Franciscan nuns of the Holy Family, founded in Eupen, and today it is an old people's home. There are some remarkable features, including the rococo gables with the coat of arms of the architect, and the French baroque windows. In
