1. Metro Parks and Living History Marker

Inscription. Metro Parks developed a living historical farm to preserve Central Ohio's agricultural heritage and to explore the relationships of humans with the land. Visitors can observe and participate in activities typical of an 1880s farm. Slate Run Living Historical Farm presents a family farm raising livestock and mixed crops, in a time when America was rapidly changing from a society of family farms centered around small communities to one increasingly dominated by factory production and large cities.

The land has been actively farmed since the early 1800s. Numerous families lived on the property and modernized the buildings to suit their changing needs. After purchasing the land for a public park, the Park District researched and restored the buildings to their 1880s uses and appearance.
