Inscription. A living historical farm shows rural life in the past. At Slate Run Farm, we use period tools and equipment to demonstrate typical daily and seasonal activities of a family farm. Even the livestock, vegetables and crops are types common to Ohio in the late 19th century.

The family that lived here was not famous and nothing exceptional happened here. A typical farm family dealt with daily challenges while enjoying the successes that came their way. Progress that brought labor saving devices and knowledge of an ever-widening world also brought tensions. Family and communities adapted and reacted to these changes. They lived in the modern times of 1880, and looked back on the changes they had seen in their lives.
