1. First Hospital Marker

Inscription. In the late 1890's Dr. Wm. F. Snow conceived the idea of a student hospital guild for Stanford students. A typhoid epidemic in 1902-03 emphasized a need for a hospital. Concerned citizens and students provided funds for the transformation of a three-story home on the corner of Lytton and Cowper into the city's first hospital.
