1. House of Horrors Marker
Inscription.
Only the bravest of Rhode Islanders would venture into the dark House of Horrors, steeling themselves against the frightening sight of the Giant Bat, the Torture Chamber, the Sawmill stunt, and the ride's most mysterious attraction, the Viking statue. This ride, originally named the Castle of Terror, opened its doors in 1963. With unparalleled popularity, long lines were typical as people came from all over to view the gruesome sights inside. In 1970, the Castle of Terror's name was changed to the House of Horrors as it gained a reputation for being one of New England's premier "dark ride" attractions with some props installed by the "dark ride" master himself, Bill Tracy.

Fun fact: In October of 1998, three years after Rocky Point closed, the House of Horrors was revived, as Rocky Point was turned into a Halloween haunt called Halloweenland, making it the last ride ever to operate at the park.
