1. Greg Was Here Marker
Inscription.
This mural was created to honor the history of the Fox Point neighborhood and the Port of Providence's 19th century river trade. The grocery store is in direct proximity to both the river and harbor, the former hub for all major trade imports. The composition is a collage of real and imagined advertising materials, some presented literally, while others have been reimagined to include hidden messages. The mural mimics a traditional format with the lowest level being posters and the upper rows being bigger painted signage. The mural is a product of intensive research by Greg that can offer viewers a reflection of the neighborhood's past as the area continues to move forward in today's incarnations of trade.
