1. Relaxing in Roman Style Marker

Inscription. Two of Dr. Harry Tevis' most extravagant water features were located here: a serene lily pond and a swimming pool - called a "Roman Plunge” - with a gently sloped bottom, perfect for wading.

A brick pergola was built between the pond and the plunge in 1912. Midpen's rehabilitation treatment was to regrade and contour the area and add a representational outline of the former lily pond.

2. Lily Pond Outline and Marker
course and country club with luxury residences by a coalition of environmental activists, the land was far from pristine. It was extensively logged in the mid-1800s and briefly became a fish farm before being developed into a massive self-sufficient estate that passed between a couple of California's wealthiest families. The Catholic order of the Society of Jesus later repurposed the estate buildings to open Alma College, a theologate to train Jesuit priests."
