1. 1947 Ford Truck: Workhorse of Yesteryear Marker

Inscription. Sitting before you is a vintage 1947 Model Ford Truck. This model is part of a line of post-war era trucks built during 1942 to 1947. These half-ton pickups featured a stronger frame compared to its predecessors, along with a more modern suspension and driveline. As Ford made a conscious move to set their line of trucks apart from their cars, this model was considered less stylish and more rugged. One of its most famous features included the distinctive waterfall-type grill, also known as a jail bar grill.

Due to its ruggedness and solid performance, it is no surprise that many these trucks made their mark on the wine industry in both Napa and Sonoma counties. The trucks were a valuable tool for property owners and vineyard managers. From traveling to hauling heavy farm equipment, grapes and other necessities, this Ford truck was the right truck for the job.
