1. Site Given to the American Baptist Home Mission Society Marker

Inscription. This 160 acre site was given to the American Baptist Home Mission Society by an act of the National Council of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation on October 29, 1881, for the purpose of educating American Indian students from all tribal nations, Bacone College, founded in Tahlequah Indian Territory on February 9, 1880 and moved to this site on June 5, 1885, is the expression of that mission. In commemoration of that historic grant, this gate is dedicated during this centennial celebration to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and each of its citizens.
