Inscription.
Bear's Mill offers an exciting place to experience a bit of history in a strikingly beautiful setting. Built in 1849, the Mill has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975. It is one of the few operating water-powered gristmills in Ohio today. Grain is still ground into flours and meals using French buhr stones powered by water from the Greenville Creek. Visitors can take a free self-guided tour of the mill, shop at the Mill Store and Art Gallery, and enjoy a walk along a peaceful stretch of creekside woodlands in the 35 acres surrounding the mill. The grounds also offer public paddling access to Greenville Creek for canoe and kayak enthusiasts.

Historic Bear's Mill
Have you heard the news? We now have a bear in the woods! Next time you walk the trail at Bear's Mill you will get to visit with an actual 9ft. bear. No worries, he is the very friendly kind of bear.

This amazing metal sculpture will grab your attention and hold onto it as he changes colors in different light. We have chosen to name the bear Gabriel, or Gabe, for short. He is named after the Gabriel Baer who moved here from Pennsylvania in 1847 and got the mill operational by 1849. Baer, a common German surname, often became 'Americanized' to Bear - or maybe poor records over time changed Gabriel's last name to the Bear
