Inscription. Darke County Parks' log house is representative of Midwest farm homes of the early 1800's. Completed in 2006, this structure serves as the backdrop for the Parks' Pioneer Living programs and Annual Prairie Days Event. The house is constructed from logs salvaged from several area log houses and a log barn, including the Brunswick Family Log Cabin, the Koverman/Harlett Log Cabin, the Wilcox/Martin Log House and the Hans/Rhoades Log Barn. Multiple sources were necessary to insure completion of a two story log house of sound, well preserved logs. The Shawnee Prairie Log House has become a reality though the Adopt-A-Log donations, hundreds of hours of volunteer labor and many gift donations. Darke County Parks wish to express sincere gratitude to everyone who made this project possible.

Erected by Darke County Parks.
